Egy hongkongi egyetem kutatói közel 65 ezer brit ember adatait elemezve azt találták, hogy a kétéves korukig csak minimális cukorbevitelben részesülő gyermekeknél 23 százalékkal alacsonyabb volt a későbbiekben a demencia kialakulásának kockázata.
