Zoltán Tanács: The government is creating a new, integrated center for water science.
Zoltán Tanács, the Minister of Science and Technology, announced that the government is working on creating a new, integrated water science center due to the increasing water scarcity and droughts. The minister emphasized that the establishment of a modern research institute has become urgent since the closure of the VITUKI, which would provide a scientific basis for domestic water management and serve important strategic and national security interests.
Zoltán Tanács, the Minister of Science and Technology, announced that due to increasing water scarcity and more severe droughts, the government is working on establishing a new, integrated water science center. The Minister emphasized that the country’s previous scientific base for water management, VITUKI, was closed down in 2012, but the current extreme weather conditions have made it clear that it is a strategic and national security interest for Hungary to establish a modern, unified research institute.
