The water temperature of the Danube has become permanently warmer, with the past 4 years being among the warmest on record since the turn of the millennium.

According to a research group at the HUN-REN Ecological Research Center, the increase in the temperature of the Danube River is the most significant hydrological change in the period after the turn of the millennium. In addition, the period has also seen more frequent years with low water levels.
