The truth has emerged: central banks have curtailed gold purchases, under pressure from the precious metal.

A recent data review revealed that central banks bought significantly less gold in the first quarter of this year than previously estimated, according to the Financial Times. The drastic 76 percent correction indicates that demand for the precious metal, one of its main drivers, is slowing down, which also partly explains the price decline since January.
