Road traffic law reform: The government is now seeking the opinions of all Hungarian citizens.

The survey, which seeks public opinion, covers topics such as making illegal street racing a criminal offense, stricter sanctions for reckless driving, the introduction of average speed measurement, and the urgent need to regulate electric scooters.

The Ministry of Transport and Investment, led by David Vitézy, has launched a public consultation on the possible tightening of traffic safety regulations and penalties. The questionnaire, which is being circulated to the public, includes proposals such as making illegal street racing a criminal offense, imposing stricter penalties for reckless driving, introducing average speed monitoring, and implementing urgent regulations for electric scooters, ahead of changes to the Highway Code.
