Regional competition and climate crisis: A blue ribbon through the prism of economic and environmental reality
In a recent episode of Portfolio Checklist, a discussion was held with András Holczhauser, Secretary-General of the Hungarian Sailing Federation, about the economic significance of the Kékszalag race and the challenges associated with organizing it. They also discussed the effects of climate change. The second part of the program analyzed the impact of the energy crisis on the Hungarian economy, as recent growth figures had been encouraging, but upcoming consumption restrictions could lead to unfavorable developments. David Németh, a senior analyst at K&H Bank, also spoke about the new crises affecting the corporate sector.

In a recent episode of Portfolio, we placed the competition on the European map as part of the “Blue Ribbon” initiative. What is the economic significance of the competition, what competition does it face, and how can the worsening and our country’s extreme climate negatively impact the event? We also discussed these questions with András Holczhauser, the Secretary-General of the Hungarian Sailing Federation. (The interview starts at 16:27.) The first part of the program dealt with the impact of the energy crisis on the Hungarian economy. The growth figures for the third quarter finally provided some hope, but the upcoming consumption restrictions could trigger negative processes. How much could growth slow down, and how much pressure could the budget face, and what state will the corporate sector be in due to the new crisis? We asked David Németh, the head analyst at K&H Bank, about this. We will also examine the adaptation opportunities of the corporate sector in more detail at the “Lendület” conference on September 9, “Hungarian Enterprises 2026”, where tickets are already available.
