MNB: Housing prices in Hungary have fallen for the first time in three years - We present the latest figures

An economist who closely monitors housing statistics from the Magyar Nemzeti Bank (National Bank of Hungary) woke up to exciting news: the central bank has not only published the expected first-quarter housing price index, but also the second-quarter index, thanks to its expanding data sources and methodological improvements. This provides a much fresher and more relevant picture of the current trends, including the fact that housing prices fell across all types of settlements for the first time in three years during the April-June period, compared to the previous quarter, which in turn slowed the pace of annual growth everywhere. Adam Banai, the head of the National Bank of Hungary’s department responsible for financial stability, will also be a speaker at the Portfolio Property Investment Forum conference, which is worth attending.
