The wholesale price of European butter has decreased by nearly 27 percent this year, after the previous shortage of butter fat was replaced by an oversupply in the European Union, the United States, and New Zealand. The average price of a kilogram of butter in Hungarian stores has fallen from around 5,000 forints to around 4,500 forints, and the product can be bought for as little as 1,800 forints per kilogram with promotions.
