Car insurance premiums have increased, but it requires a deep pocket for electric cars.
The number of electric vehicles in the Hungarian fleet has already exceeded 100,000, representing an annual growth of more than 40%. According to Netrisk data, the share of electric vehicles in mandatory vehicle insurance contracts is 3.6%, while that of hybrids has increased to more than 5%. The mandatory insurance premiums for electric vehicles have decreased by 8%, while those for hybrids have decreased by 12%, compared to just 2% for other cars. However, the casco premiums are significantly higher, with the average annual premium for electric vehicles exceeding 263,000 forints.
