The European Commission has fined Google 890 million euros for violating regulations on digital markets. The Commission found that Google favored its own services in its search engine and limited the ability of app developers to direct users to cheaper purchasing channels through the Google Play store. The fine is split between 460 million euros for favoring its own services and 430 million euros for limiting redirection.

According to the Commission, Google had given preferential treatment to its own services in its search engine and had restricted developers from using cheaper purchasing channels in the Google Play store. 460 million euros of the fine is for giving preferential treatment to its own services, and 430 million euros is for restricting the redirection of users.
