The European Union’s envoys have reached a political agreement on the twenty-first sanctions package against Russia, which targets the energy sector, the financial system, trade, and the shadow fleet. The sanctions will be implemented with consideration for the interests of the member states, and the original proposal has been modified on several points, significantly expanding the scope of individuals and organizations subject to sanctions.
The ambassadors of the EU member states reached a political agreement after several weeks of debate on the 21st sanctions package against Russia. The new measures target the energy sector, the financial system, trade, and the so-called shadow fleet. Although the scope of individuals and organizations affected by the restrictions has significantly expanded, the original proposal had to be eased in several areas due to the interests of the member states, according to HVG.
