American AI developers are in a difficult position, as they are investing heavily in the latest top models. While they are trying to keep up with their competitors, they soon realize that they are not only competing with companies that offer paid technology, but also with laboratories that freely share their developments. This situation further complicates their ability to maintain market competitiveness.
We can only sympathize with some of the leading American AI developers. They invest a lot of blood, sweat, and enormous sums of money in every new top-model release. However, by the time they achieve something remarkable, their competitors have already caught up. It would already be a difficult situation if only those competitors were breathing down their necks, offering paid technology. However, companies like Anthropic or OpenAI, which offer free models, are also competing against those labs.
