A European leader is working on a plan that could be detrimental to Hungary.

Friedrich Merz, the German Chancellor, advocated for a slimmer EU budget for the coming years, significantly lower than that proposed by the European Commission, during his meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin in Dublin on Tuesday. He also rejected the idea of linking Montenegro’s accession to the EU with that of other countries.
